READ 0097 Developmental
Reading (4-0-4) A course designed to emphasize
the basic reading skills needed to succeed in college
courses. Group and individual work on word attack, vocabulary,
comprehension, and reading rate will be provided in
both classroom and lab settings.
READ 0099 Developmental Reading (4-0-4)
Application and reinforcement of basic reading skills.
College survival skills, test-taking skills, and rate
development methods are also included.
RGTR 0198 Regents
Reading (2-0-2) An individualized course designed
for students who have failed the reading portion of the
Regents' Test. The course should help the student to develop
reading skills by providing concentrated practice in the
study of materials designed to increase levels of inferential
comprehension, literal comprehension, analysis, and vocabulary
proficiency.
MATH 0097 Developmental
Mathematics (4-0-4) Topics include a review
of fractions, percents, ratio, and proportion as well
as an introduction to real numbers, solving linear equations,
and evaluating formulas.
MATH 0099 Developmental Mathematics (4-0-4)
Topics include a review of basic algebra, including
word problems, exponents, polynomials, factoring, rational
expressions, rational equations, slope of the line,
and systems of equations.
ENGL 0097 Developmental
English (4-0-4) A course in basic grammar and
writing designed to help the student to write well-structured
and grammatically correct sentences and unified, well-developed,
and coherent paragraphs. The course stresses basic grammar,
sentence structure and patterns, spelling, diction,
punctuation, and mechanics, as well as certain aspects
of technical writing.
ENGL 0099 Developmental English (4-0-4)
A course designed to help the student to write well-structured
and grammatically correct sentences and unified, developed,
and coherent paragraphs and essays. The course stresses
the basics of the writing process, as well as grammar,
sentence structure and patterns, spelling, diction,
punctuation, and mechanics.
RGTE 0199 Regents
Essay (2-0-2) An individualized course designed
for students who have failed the essay portion of the
Regents' Test. The course should help the student to develop
writing skills by providing concentrated practice in the
writing of multi-paragraph essays with emphasis on content,
organizational structure, development of ideas, and sentence
quality.
