About the Course
: Students who score below 37 on the basic math portion of the Compass Test are required to take this course. In this course, you will master basic math skills and apply these skills to solving word problems. You will learn to add, subtract, multiply, divide with whole numbers, fractions, decimals, percents. Students will also learn to use proportions to solve word problems. To be eligible for the Compass Exit Exam, you are required to pass each test with 75% or higher and you are required to complete all homework assignments maintaining 75% or higher homework average. At the end of the semester, if you are eligible to take the Compass Exit Exam, you will score 37 or higher on the Compass exam to exit this class successfully.
Technology Requirements
    • Broadband Internet access from home
    • Basic computing skills including using email, browsing the Internet, and troubleshooting simple errors, etc.
    • PC with IE 7 or above.
    It is your responsibility to make sure that you have reliable Internet access. Completing assignments and resolving technology issues remain the student’s responsibility. If your computer is not functioning properly then you are required to find one that does. Our local library and our campus library in Bainbridge and Early Co have computers available. In the Tech Studies Building on Bainbridge College campus has an open computer lab 627. However, only one computer is available on a first-come, first-served basis, so you will need to plan ahead.

    Materials:
    Vista Access Code: (required) Vista Student Access Kit- (Vista MyMathLab Access Code with blue border) The Vista access code is to be purchased in the Bainbridge College Bookstore. This is required by the first day of class.Textbook: (suggested)
    Basic College Mathematics, 6th Edition, by Tobey, Slater, Blair. Published by Prentice-HallComputer and Calculator: Only BASIC calculators are allowed. You need a reliable computer and reliable internet connection.( Windows XP or above)

    How to Succeed:
    • Meet all due dates and grade requirements.
    • Failure to complete required work on time results in a 0.
    • Pay attention to what you are required to do, plan ahead, and do not procrastinate.

About the Course
This course introduces the touch system of keyboarding, emphasizing correct techniques, speed building, and the production of properly formatted business documents. Students must attaint a minimum of 25 GWAM (gross words a minute) on 3-minute timings with no more than 3 errors OR at least 70% speed and accuracy score on 3-minute timings to pass the course.
